the wonders of the internet

often i think that it would be nicer to live in a age where people don't write e-mails and facebook messages but hand-written letters and would listen to cds and vinyls they bought because they really love the music rather than download anything without thinking twice. and children would play hide and seek rather than world of warcraft...
but yeah, the internet is not only an incredible resource of endless information about everything it also has it's magical moments.
last weekend i "attended" an online concert by mia rose. she became famous through youtube (her youtube channel is the first i ever subscribed to - probably 5 years ago) and on sunday she gave a concert on "stage it" (live from her room!) for an international audience - and i absolutely loved it.

here a little taste of her loveliness:

happy tuesday everyone!

Things that make me happy #1

The last two years I learned a lot about myself.
I learned that there is stuff that is bad for me, that makey me more likely to get depressed, feel overstrained with everything and like I couldn't handle life.

But also I learned that there are things that make me happy.

One of these things I just recently discovered.
It may sound odd, but a tidy room makes me feel really good.
As my mum is reading this she is probably laughing out loud, because I used to be really bad at keeping my room clean and I always argued that I need chaos to develop my creativity.
Well, I guess I maybe need a little bit of chaos sometimes but more often I am just lazy.

Organising my stuff somehow makes me feel like I have things under control, like I overview everything a bit better.
So the feeling of life slipping through my fingers gets alleviated a bit.

Maybe it is just an illusion.
Life can fall apart even if you have written down every date in your agenda, even if your CD collection is assorted in alphabetical order, even if you do not have to search for your keys every morning and even if a super detailed to do list prevents you from forgetting your responsibilities.

But life gets easier. Also, a tidy room is often cosier than a messy one.
And if there's a way of tricking yourself into being more happy and feeling more secure, I believe it is legitimate to do so.

Wishlist...

Because it's only 16 more days until my birthday I decided to post a little wishlist.

Not only my birthday, also the day I'm moving to England to live on my own moves closer.
I think some tools would be pretty useful. Isn't this pink tool box cool?

"Pride and Prejudice" (the one with the "real" Mr. Darcy - Colin Firth),
"Sleepless in Seattle" (a classic and must-have in my DVD collection)
and "A beautiful Mind" - one of my all time favorite movies.

Music makes me happy.
First the "Best of" Cd by Otis Redding - he's my hero.
I can't believe that I don't own this album yet: 21 by the fabulous Adele
and the new Album "I'm with you" by Red Hot Chili Peppers.

Some of these fabulous cooking books,
so I can invite all of you to a real home cooked dinner.

I don't know if this makes sense, but...

via tumblr
...lately I'm wondering what people do when they achieved a goal.

For example an athlete who wanted to set a new record in some kind of sport.
He maybe worked for years towards his goal, trained day by day, sacrificed all his time, that he could have spent with friends and family, paid a lot of money for his fitness center membership, ate consequently only healty and empowering foods - with all his passion he pursuit for his attempt to set a new record.

And then: the day has come and he does it. He's happy that all his training finally had paid off, that he could prove everyone how disciplined, how strong, how good he is.
Maybe he can merely comprehend that he really did it. For days he is on cloud nine, he feels invincible, like he could do everything. People salute him, his friends constantly tell him how proud they are of him.

Weeks and months go by and the radiance of his trophy slowly starts to fade. He disavows it, but the total satisfaction, the gratification he was filled with diminishes more and more.
What will he do now? Will he try to break another record? Or his own? Will all the training, all the fagging just start all over again? And then again and again and again? Will it ever end? Will he ever be fully content with himself, with his achivements, with his life?

I met so many people who always talk about how happy they would be if only they achieved that special academic degree, had this super career, finally meet the man/woman of their dreams or just managed to sort out their lives.

I don't think it is wrong to dream, to the contrary - I think it's important to have ambitions that your chasing after. I have great respect for people who work hard to achieve their goals, who do not let anyone distract them from their aim.
I just don't want to be racing through life, to rush from one thing to an other, desperate to finally find happiness.
Maybe it is against the whole "pursuit-for-happiness-philosophy", yet I think your general contentment with your life should not be depending on your accomplishments, your job, your car, the number of your facebook friends or whether your single or not.
These things add up to it, yes. But they are not happiness or contentedness in intself.

Hello Facebook-World

Hitherto the new fb profile didn't quite persuade me. But Color Me Katie inspired me to experiment a little with the photo section at the top. What I did so far ist not really creative but until I come up with something better, i think it's not that bad.

Randomness

From today it's exactly two months, than I'm turning 20! Time runs... don't you think?
And there are only 4 more days of school... than summerbreak! Yay!

Today I heard a really funny joke, ok I found it funny, don't know what you guys think:

"Hey, you have a banana in your ear!"
"I can't hear you, I have a banana in my ear."

This made me laugh.
I'm sorry but that's all I can come up with today.
I hope you all have a great day!

30 day fitness challenge

Brandi from mucho mucho bueno bueno (I love her blog! Check it out!) started this little challenge. I think it's great.
It's basically about working out every day for the next 30 days. When I first heard this I thougt I couldn't do it, because I'm too busy. So I decided to start slow. For now I just try to ride my bike instead of taking the car. Since it's so nice outside it's just lovely to bycicle. And for today I planned to go swimming.
I think now is the perfect time to start. If I can't do it now, how lazy will I be in winter?

Soccer Fever

As you probably all know, at the moment the Soccer world cup is going on and tonight is the last preliminary game of Germany and they need to win! I've been nervous all week about this game and I think I'm gonna cry if they loose. But they won't!
Crossed fingers!

Trip to the Museum of Anatomy

Warning: This Post is a little gross!

In School I have biology as advanced course and yesterday our courses went to the museum of anatomy in Bale. It was really interesting but also really, really gross.
So, if you have a weak stomach, do not watch the following pictures...

Too cool for School.

With sunshine monday is not that bad.

I'm really not a talented cleaner.

Egal.

Random Questions

First... I am so happy about my new followers! Welcome to my blog you all! I hope you enjoy even though a lot is in German... Maybe you can use Google Translater to read my posts.
And I will try to post every now and then in English. I think it is a very good practice :)

1. Wo kommt der Schnupfen her?

Wish you all a great new week!

Two things I love... around my home

Today I'm playing along with Kassi from BackWoods Fern.
The first thing I love around my home is my brandnew wardrobe. I bought it from Ikea a week ago. I always wanted to have a white wardrobe. I love it!

And the second one is my embellishment-board. I made it together with my mom
and my brother helped me with the screwing things. I think it looks very nice and it's also very practical, because it helps me to organise my earrings and necklaces.

The early bird catches the worm

Hihi.

Fill in the blanks.

Diese Idee stammt von Lauren die einen wundervollen blog schreibt:"the little things we do".

1.  If I had two hours to myself today, I'd     just hang out with my brother, who is coming today, play the piano and maybe make some pie .

2.  If I could travel anywhere today, I would go to    India   .

3.      Being in kindergarten      is my happiest memory.

4.  Sometimes you're     in the centre of attention       other times you're     not noticed by anyone .

5.  Beauty is     the reflection of a good heart or simply charisma.

6.  I would be embarassed if anyone knew    that I still have stuffed animals in my bed and that I talk to them every now and then   .

7.  Love at first sight is    sometimes as quick as it came gone, but really exciting and kind of romantic. This quote is very applicable I think   .
