summer recap #2

as i'm sitting here - freezing - i'm reminiscing summer: spending days hanging out at the rhine, doing nothing but sun bathing and solving cross word puzzles.
and enjoying warm summer nights with friends, wine and bonfires.
i'm so thankful for my life.

randomness, words, emotions.

and it's swelling up
joy and love and fear
inside of her
and she is
trusting, risking,
in her fingers a
nervous tickling
but oh wait
let's breath and refocus
and so she exercises patience.

stirred.

Wake up child,
it's your time to shine
you were born for such a time as this.

There are books you forget. And there are books that stay with you. Maybe forever.

"I looked over at Augustus Waters, who looked back at me. You could almost see through his eyes they were so blue. "There will come a time," I said, "when all of us are dead. All of us. There will come a time when there are no human beings remaining to remember that anyone ever existed or that our species ever did anything. There will be no one left to remember Aristotle or Cleopatra, let alone you. Everything that we did and built and wrote and thought and discovered will be forgotten and all of this" -- I gestured encompassingly -- "will have been for naught. Maybe that time is coming soon and maybe it is millions of years away, but even if we survive the collapse of our sun, we will not survive forever. There was time before organisms experienced consciousness, and there will be time after. And if the inevitability of human oblivion worries you, I encourage you to ignore it. God knows that's what everyone else does."

life lately

taking autumn walks

and marvelling at god's creation

breakfast dates with best housemate and friend

indulging in literature

and listening to this song while drinking coffee in the shower.

life is good.

and i say it's significant.

in these moments
between living and dreaming
when you see reality but only from afar
wrapped in the beauty of the light,
that the newborn day sheds through the window.

when hope is strong
and happiness easy
i close my eyes and know
that all this is not just random
and i utter a thank you
and smile.

le weekend

my best friend hannah and i started the weekend off by having a meal at a pub in town and then went (feeling very cultured) to the 'light up lancaster' festival which was actually pretty cool.

waiting for the food...

taking pictures of candles, cutlery and saltshakers

dancers and projections in the sun square

fire artist in dalton square

saturday i spent studying and drinking a lot of tea.
it has become very cold the last couple of days - the air smells like winter already. we actually meant to see the fireworks (it is guy fawkes day) but decided to stay in, cook some chinese food and watch 'fight club' - which just remains to be my favourite movie.

i finished reading 'the condemned of altona' by jean-paul sartre and made a list
(yet another one) of books that i need to read before i die.

i bough a new cd by the 'head and the heart' (love the band name)
and so far this is my favourite song.

highlight of the week

one of the most beautiful moments in life
when the thoughts and sentiments of your soul
that are never to be expressed with words
are captured in a song.
